Just own the night like the 4th of July

For the 4th of July me and the bestie drove up to Indianapolis to watch the fireworks as we always do. Once there we parked and walked around a bit. We ended up downtown in monument  circle and just sat around people watching and taking photos every once in a while. There were 2 motorcycle cops parked just feet away from us and we watched as they let kids and a few adults too take pictures with them and on their bikes. We were approached by a couple guys while sitting there which was totally random.

I just love the city, there is just such a mix of different and interesting people in cities, nothing like small towns at all. Plus there are always things to do in bigger cities, always something going on. I honestly don't know why I still live where I do, I think I'd love livin the city life if even just for a while.

So when it got closer to time for the fireworks we walked back to the parking garage and packed our cooler full of goodies and a blanket up to the top of the garage to watch the show. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous that evening and I got some really great shots of the evening sky. Rain had been in the forecast for most of the day and it didn't rain even once while we were there so I was quite thankful for that.

The firework show was pretty great and during them someone who was blaring music from their truck played "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing" and the moment was too perfect with the fireworks going off and Steven's voice and I got all teary eyed like a big sentimental weirdo. All in all we had a fun little trip up to Indy. I wore my brand new maxi dress that I had bought from China through ebay, with it I wore my yellow sandals and lots of colorful bracelets. Here are some photos of my outfit and from the day.

Play house, put my favorite record on...

This white Summery dress I bought online from Forever 21. I just love this dress so much because it's so girly and simple. The bodice is cut into a delicate eyelet design and is adorned with tiny buttons down the center. I love how the bodice is form fitting but it flows out at the waist.  Super comfy and lightweight for hot summer days. I paired the dress with my nude strappy heels and a simple bird necklace. She grew up in an Indiana town...

I recently bought another camera for my upcoming trip to NYC and these pics were shot with it.  I bought the camera for its small size because I didn't want to lug my big Canon all over the city on my trip and for its fast shutter speed, the ability to take 10 pics a second. The camera is super small, has 16.2 mega pixels, 8x optical zoom and has wifi so you can transfer pics directly from the camera to your phone or computer.  I pretty much love my new camera and as you can see it takes lovely photos. (Thanks Cori for shooting them for me)  Anyways on to my newest look...

I found this dress online about 2 months ago. I was searching for a black and white vertical stripe dress and after looking through some different choices I decided on this one. When the dress arrived it had a hole in the side seam and I STILL haven't gotten around to sewing it up, the reason I haven't wore it out yet. This is a color block dress cut in the current popular hi-low dress trend. I love this dress because it's cute and comfortable, I just need to stop being lazy and sew up the hole in the side.

Anyways when I see black and white vertical striped clothing I've pretty much always thought of Steven Tyler. In the 70s & 80s he rocked these amazing black & white striped jumpsuits, and after that various different pair of flared black & white stripe pants.

As you can see, Steven always looks amazing in them and I've just always loved the look. I don't have the height or small enough legs to rock striped pants of the sort, so I opted for my usual, a dress.

With the dress I'm wearing my new black suede wedges, shoes that give me some serious height. I am not sure on the exact height but they are at least 5.5 inches tall if not 6 inches.

Once again I'm rocking my pink & white extension clips and a fun silver patterned head wrap from Urban Outfitters.

 (Mine is in silver)

To finish the outfit I simply added my mini harmonica necklace, some bracelets, my Aerosmith ring and skull ring that is similar to Steven Tyler's skull ring.

Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned...

So, I haven't done a new look for this blog in quite some time, months actually. I've bought a lot of new dresses in the past month or so...and new shoes as well so hopefully I'll get back to posting outfits more regularly. Since my last post Spring semester at school has ended, I got a new tattoo on my foot, and I've made Summer plans to go see Aerosmith both in NYC in July and Milwaukee in August.
I'm sure I'll share the details of all that as the time gets closer and I'll also share some photos of my new foot tattoo as well. But first I'll get back to today's outfit.

I bought this lovely floral strapless dress I'm wearing at Rue 21 last week. The moment I saw it I knew it was SO ME and I fell in love and had to buy it. I'm known for wearing a lot of strapless shirts and dresses alike because my shoulders are actually one thing I like about myself and try to show off some. I tend to love pink and pretty florals so this dress was pretty much perfect for me. In my hair are pink & white hair clip in strands that I just bought from Urban Outfitters. (see photo)
I' m also wearing a pink rose ring and my ever present bird necklace from Forever 21. The final element of this simple summer look is my amazing new 5.5 inch tall tan wedges from Oh how I love those shoes!!! Here are some additional photos:

Well I hope you like my look & thanks for visiting my blog!
